Call for Papers

The International Conference on Creativity in Dance (ICCD) invites the submission of scholarly papers for its upcoming edition. While dance benefits from an extensive global literature, the academic field continues to confront a notable insufficiency in critical and theoretical investigations that rigorously examine the art form’s cultural, methodological, and epistemological dimensions. This gap underscores the necessity of sustained academic engagement capable of articulating the complex frameworks through which dance is created, perceived, and theorized. The success of the first edition of ICCD demonstrated the vital role that critical scholarship plays in advancing the discourse of dance studies. The high-quality scientific contributions of the invited lecturers significantly enriched the field, offering new pathways for inquiry and expanding the scope of research available to scholars and practitioners alike. Their work affirmed the conference’s mission to cultivate a robust intellectual environment in which dance is approached as an essential site of academic reflection. Building on this foundation, the forthcoming edition introduces a new thematic panel dedicated to the interrelation between performance and dance medicine. By foregrounding the mutual influence of artistic practice and the physical, psychological, and social conditions of the performer, this panel seeks to promote a scientifically informed perspective on performance research. Such an approach recognizes well-being not as an auxiliary concern but as a central determinant of artistic output and professional sustainability.

ICCD welcomes submissions that advance critical, theoretical, and interdisciplinary approaches to dance. Scholars, researchers, and practitioners are encouraged to contribute work that broadens methodological perspectives, interrogates established paradigms, and supports the ongoing development of dance as a rigorous academic discipline.
